Good to know
- The photo is developed automatically with the camera's white balance. There are no exposure, color or noise edits, so for fine control develop it in Lightroom or Camera Raw instead.
- Support depends on the camera model: very new cameras can fail until they are supported. Files that were only renamed from another format are rejected.
- Very old software and some printers cannot open WebP. Use JPG or PNG there.
- Metadata such as EXIF and the GPS location is not copied into the new file.

An ARW file is a RAW photo from a Sony camera. It holds the unprocessed sensor data, so it keeps maximum detail for editing, but it is huge and most apps and websites can't open it. Converting it gives you a normal image, developed with the camera's own white balance.
