02 / what you get

What happens to your data

Kept

  • The vector graphic is rendered at 300 DPI, so a 320×210 SVG becomes about 1333×875 pixels, sharp enough for print
  • A transparent background stays transparent where the new format allows it
  • Saved with lossless LZW compression, so quality is kept and the file is smaller than an uncompressed TIFF
  • Transparency is kept

Good to know

  • External images and web fonts linked from the SVG are not loaded. Convert text to outlines (paths) before exporting so it displays correctly.
  • The result is one still picture. Animations in the SVG are not played.
  • TIFF files are large, and web browsers cannot display them. It is meant for print, scanning and archives.
  • The result is a single-page TIFF.

SVG vs TIFF

SVG

An SVG file describes an image using mathematical shapes and paths instead of pixels, so it stays perfectly sharp at any size. It's the standard format for logos, icons, and illustrations that need to scale without blurring.

Used in: Logos & icons · Illustrations · Scalable UI graphics

TIFF

A TIFF file stores images at maximum quality with little to no compression loss, often at very large file sizes. It's the standard in professional photography, print production, and scanning workflows where quality matters more than file size.

Used in: Professional photography · Print production · Scanned documents
