What happens to your data
Kept
- Everything in the font: glyphs, kerning, ligatures and hinting, because the tables are only re-packed
- The smallest web font format, often 40–60% smaller than the TTF
- Supported by all current browsers
Good to know
- WOFF2 files are for web pages, not for installing on a computer. Keep the original TTF for that.
- Converting a font does not change its license. Make sure the license allows web embedding or modification before you publish the result.
- Files up to 4 MB are supported, which covers most Latin, Cyrillic and Greek fonts but not large CJK fonts.

TTF vs WOFF2
TTF
A TTF (TrueType Font) file is one of the most common font formats — most operating systems and design tools can install and use it directly. It's usually where you start when installing a font manually.
Used in: Desktop font installs · Design software (Figma, Photoshop) · Legacy Windows apps
WOFF2
A WOFF2 file is the newer, more compressed version of WOFF — roughly 30% smaller on average, and supported by every modern browser today. It's the current best practice for web fonts.
Used in: Modern website @font-face · Google Fonts style delivery · Fast page-load optimization
