02 / what you get

What happens to your data

Kept

  • A DNG photo from a camera, drone or phone that saves Adobe's open RAW format, converted at full resolution
  • Developed with the camera's own white balance into standard 8-bit sRGB color, ready to view and share
  • One PDF page that is exactly the size of the picture (not A4), with the image filling it
  • The developed photo is embedded as a high-quality JPEG (quality 92), which keeps the PDF a reasonable size

Good to know

  • The photo is developed automatically with the camera's white balance. There are no exposure, color or noise edits, so for fine control develop it in Lightroom or Camera Raw instead.
  • Support depends on the camera model: very new cameras can fail until they are supported. Files that were only renamed from another format are rejected.
  • The PDF contains only the picture. Text in the image is not recognized, so it cannot be selected or searched (there is no OCR).
  • One image becomes one page. To combine several images in one PDF, use the PDF tools of your viewer after converting.
  • Metadata such as EXIF and the GPS location is not copied into the new file.

DNG vs PDF

DNG

A DNG file is Adobe's open RAW photo format, used by many cameras, drones and some phones. It holds the unprocessed sensor data, so it keeps maximum detail for editing, but most apps and websites can't open it. Converting it gives you a normal image, developed with the camera's own white balance.

PDF

A PDF file locks in exact layout, fonts, and pagination so it looks identical on every device — the standard for sharing finished documents, contracts, and anything meant to be printed rather than edited.
