- One PDF page that is exactly the size of the picture (not A4), with the image filling it
- The image is embedded without extra compression, so nothing is lost
Good to know
- Layers, paths and text are flattened, so the result cannot be edited as layers.
- Files saved by very new GIMP versions (3.x) may not open yet.
- The PDF contains only the picture. Text in the image is not recognized, so it cannot be selected or searched (there is no OCR).
- One image becomes one page. To combine several images in one PDF, use the PDF tools of your viewer after converting.

XCF
An XCF file is a GIMP project. It keeps every layer so a design stays editable, which means only GIMP opens it properly. Converting it gives you the visible layers merged into one normal image, the same as exporting from GIMP. Only 8-bit XCF files are supported.
