Good to know
- The bitrate is fixed at 448 kbps even for stereo, so the file is about 3.4 MB per minute, far bigger than an MP3.
- AC3 only supports 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz, so other sample rates are converted.
- AC3 files cannot hold title, artist or album tags.
- Embedded cover art is not carried over. Only the sound is converted.
- Both formats compress with quality loss, so every conversion costs a little quality. Keep your MP3 original.
