What happens to your data

Kept

  • Vorbis files (and Opus inside .ogg) are supported
  • Saved as an iPhone ringtone (AAC in an iTunes-style MP4) at 192 kbps
  • The first 30 seconds are kept, safely under the 40-second limit of iOS ringtones
  • Title, artist and album tags are carried over

Good to know

  • The ringtone always starts at the beginning of the file. To use another part of the song, trim the audio first.
  • To install it, add the .m4r to your iPhone in Finder (Mac) or the Apple Devices app / iTunes (Windows), then pick it in Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
  • Embedded cover art is not carried over. Only the sound is converted.
  • Both formats compress with quality loss, so every conversion costs a little quality. Keep your OGG original.
